Babytakt Help — Backups, Family Group, Joining

Answers to what gets asked most often.

Your question is not here? Write to us — we read every message ourselves; there is no ticket system and no queue.

Will I lose my entries if my phone breaks?

Everything lives on the device — that is why the backup file matters. In the settings, Babytakt writes your entire history into one file that you store wherever you like. Put it in a cloud folder and it is automatically off-site.

When you set up a new phone, you import it again. If you use family sync, you already have a second copy anyway: on the other phone.

How do two people track the same child?

Through a group: one device creates it and invites the others with a QR code or a link. From then on the devices sync in the background — encrypted, without an account.

Up to ten devices, so grandparents and daycare fit in too. What exactly is transferred is described in the privacy policy, section 3.

Joining does not work

Two common reasons. First: the invitation has expired — a QR code is valid for ten minutes, a link for 24 hours. Just ask for a new one.

Second: the app was not installed yet when the link was tapped. Install it and tap the same link again — more on the invitation page.

Why does the app not ask me to sign up?

Because it does not need to. Without an account there is nothing to steal, nothing to sell, and no reason to recognize you.

The price: we cannot reset a password or restore anything for you. Hence the backup file.

Does Babytakt cost anything?

The app ships without ads and sells no data. Whatever costs money later — and whatever stays free — will be announced here in good time. Today there is nothing to buy.

Where is my data kept?

On your phone, in a database only Babytakt reads. Without a group, no entry ever leaves the device.

With a group they travel encrypted — the service in between sees only gibberish and knows neither names nor birthdays. In full in the privacy policy.

What about my photos?

They stay on the phone. In a group they travel encrypted like everything else; anyone outside the group never gets them.

Why doesn’t the app remind me on its own?

Because it describes what happened instead of nagging about what didn’t. If you want reminders, switch them on per type under Notifications — then they come, otherwise it stays quiet.

How do I get the widget onto my home screen?

Settings → Widgets → Add to home screen. You can also do it by hand: press and hold an empty spot on the home screen, choose Widgets, look for Babytakt.

Can I change or delete an entry?

Yes. Tap it in the history — time, amount and type can all be changed there. Deleting isn’t final: it goes to the bin and can be brought back.

We have twins. Does that work?

Yes. Add a second child under Children; each has its own history, its own running timer and its own figures.

You can place two widgets on the home screen and assign one child to each while setting them up.

I found a bug

Please report it with one sentence about what you did and what happened. A screenshot helps more than any description.
